Weekend News Recap: Harrison Ford to Crack the Whip for Indy One More Time, Amber Heard for Aquaman and More!

On Weekend News Recap, we take the biggest pop culture news stories of the past week and put them all in one place. We give a brief rundown on the news you may have missed and get you all caught up to speed. For this week’s Weekend News Recap, we talk Harrison Ford returning for another Indiana Jones sequel, Amber Heard confirmed for a huge role in the upcoming Aquaman film, Luke Cage series gets a release date and a couple new movie trailers that were released. Let’s get started shall we?


On March 15, Disney announced that they will give Harrison Ford another shot at Indiana Jones for the fifth installment, which already has a release date of July 19, 2019. Also returning Ford for the ride are legendary director Steven Spielberg and producers Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall. One giant name that is not returning to the upcoming installment is Star Wars creator, George Lucas. Hopefully this fifth Indy film will make up for the last film, Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull.


Also in casting news, The Rum Diary actress, Amber Heard, confirmed to ET that she will star in the upcoming DC/WB film Aquaman. Heard will play the Queen of Atlantis, (wife of Aquaman) Mera. Heard didn’t say much about her role other than describing her suit as being part armor and part scales. Aquaman starring Jason Momoa, hits theaters in 2018.


In other news, Marvel has given their Netflix series, Luke Cage, a release date. Actor Mike Colter who plays Luke Cage, announced that the release date of the series will be Sept. 30. Also starring in the series will be Mahershala AliTheo RossiAlfre WoodardSimone Missick and Sonia Braga.

A couple of new trailers come out this week. The first trailer for the animated film, Sausage Party, was released. Sausage Party follows a group of food items as they learn the truth about their existence. Take a look…(the trailer is definitely not be suitable for all ages).
Sausage Party stars Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, Kristen Wigg, James Franco, Craig Robinson, Selma Hayek, Bill Hader, Paul Rudd and a huge list of other A-list actors.

A new trailer for the upcoming X-men: Apocalypse was also released this week. In this latest trailer for the film, we get a heavy dose of Apocalypse, his four horsemen and a load of destruction.
