Alicia Vikander Lands Lead Role for Upcoming Tomb Raider Film

Ex-Machina actress, Alicia Vikander, has signed on to play Lara Croft in the upcoming Tomb Raider film. The film is being directed by Roar Uthaug and it will tell the story of a young Lara Croft. Vikander has been one of Hollywood’s top actresses lately thanks to her performances on Ex-Machina and The Danish Girl, which Vikander for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role. The last Tomb Raider film was 2003’s Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life in which Angelina Jolie reprised her role as the famous video game character. The new Tomb Raider film is being co-produced by MGM and Warner Bros.



The Punisher Spin-off Series Gets Green-lit

Everyone was so amazed at Jon Bernthal‘s Frank Castle aka The Punisher take in Netflix’s Daredevil series and it had fans wanting more. Netflix listened to the fans and officially announced that Jon Bernthal will star as The Punisher in his own series. The Punisher will be the sixth Marvel series coming from Netflix. No release date for the series has been given but let’s all be happy that the Punisher is back!



DreamWorks Animation Gets Sold to Comcast

DreamWorks Animation, the studio that has brought franchises such as Shrek, Kung Fu Panda and Madagascar, has been sold to Comcast for $3.55 billion. This sale means that DreamWorks will become part of the Universal Filmed Entertainment Group, which includes Universal Pictures. The companies put the deal value at $3.8 billion.



New trailer for Independence Day: Resurgence

Independence Day: Resurgence brings back a mixed cast of actors from the original hit film and some new additions. The film is set 20 years after the first alien invasion and the world collaborates on a defence program to protect the planet.
